Where do I even start with this wedding?!
Scott and Angus contacted me several months ago and gave me a few details about what they had planned but nothing prepared me for the epicness of this “wedding adventure” in Iceland.
From the moment we met on the first day I knew we’d get along perfectly. But then, over the next few days, I got to meet their friends and family who made me feel so welcome! By the end of the trip, I felt like I needed to say goodbye to every single guest. It was a seriously fun crowd!
Then there were so many elements that made this wedding completely unique. The ceremony, on day 3, was held next to a United States Navy DC plane that ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur back in 1973. There has never been a wedding ceremony there before and it was a spectacular backdrop.
Their wedding cake was a 3D moving projection that morphed from a volcano to a glacier to cartoons of Angus & Scott as scuba divers swimming amongst marine life.
In fact, the couple are both keen scuba divers so, on our last morning, we headed to Silfra fissure which is the only place on the planet where you can dive between two tectonic plates. On one side is North America. On the other is Europe. In between is crystal clear water and there’s one spot where divers can touch both plates. Luckily I’m a certified scuba diver too so I took photos in the cool, clear water…. Amazing!
Amazing landscapes, waterfalls, glaciers, the Blue Lagoon, vikings, geysers…..
And I haven’t even mentioned getting to witness the Northern Lights for the first time – something that was on my bucket list. Truly spectacular!
I’m so grateful to Scott & Angus (or is it Angus & Scott?) for trusting me to document their adventure for them. It was 5 days I’ll never forget.
Here are just a few of the images I came home with….
