This St Donat’s wedding has had so much love. It was featured on the fantastic Love My Dress wedding blog. I also used this wedding for one of our sample albums. Everything about this wedding was perfect!
St Donat’s Castle is a medieval castle, built in the late 12th century, in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, overlooking the Bristol Channel in the village of St Donat’s near Llantwit Major, and about 25 km west of Cardiff. It’s easily one of my favourite venues to photograph weddings at in the UK.
And this wedding, in particular, will remain one of my favourites for a very long time so many reasons.
The incredible venue, the beach, the amazing attention to detail (loving the balloon theme)…. a flashmob in the church that even Libby didn’t know about (yup!)…. a Lovely Dinosaur puppet show, the emotional speeches which left not a dry eye in the room…. a rockin’ band… lovely guests, delicious food…. but most of all Libby & Derek. For a wedding photographer, they were dream clients. A ton of fun to hang out with and they didn’t mind me taking them all the way down to the beaach for photos. Libby even walked over the slippery rocks in high heels. All for a great wedding photo! Legend.
Seriously, if every wedding was like this…. Amazing!
I shot this one solo. I’m selfish like that 😉
Since this wedding, Libby has gone on to be a wedding photographer herself, even attending one of my wedding photography workshops. And then things came around full circle when she came to shoot a wedding with me. And where was that wedding? St Donat’s Castle.
You can see that wedding from St Donat’s Castle right here.
