V Festival 2009

V Festival 2009 at Weston Park was a great festival…

It wasn’t really the bands that made it great. In fact, the line-up wasn’t that great. It was the weather, the vibe and the company that made it one of my fave festivals. I was there to cover the event for SJM who run the festival. You’ll see my images popping up on the V Festival website.

Saturday started (for me anyway) with local boys, Ocean Colour Scene and James Morrison

This year I made a deliberate effort to photograph more people attending the festival rather than just concentrating on the bands. And we found plenty of characters all too willing to pose for the camera…

The girl in the pink cowboy hat told me she follows me on Twitter πŸ™‚

Boys will be boys!

Time for a quick bridal shoot… “Wedding dresses Β£15”!!

Back to the music and the lovely Natalie Imbruglia

I missed the Saturday night at V to go and photograph a band called U2. Turns out I missed the last ever Oasis gig (maybe) but I have no regrets…

Sunday was more fun as Evelyne & Elliott joined me for the day, and the sun continued to shine πŸ™‚

Elliott looked super-cool with his Clash t-shirt and his backstage pass.

First band of the day – Starsailor

The lovely Taylor Swift (“the biggest selling artist of 2008 in America with combined sales of more than four million albums”)Β on stage and (at the top of this post) trying to get Elliott’s attention backstage πŸ™‚

Jet & The Script

Lily Allen

Mind your wig!

For most acts there were around 15 – 20 photographers. But when I went to shoot one of my fave singer songwriters, Pete Murray, I was the only photographer there!

The Specials

The Ting Tings

After Razorlight I got to go up on the main stage and get a crowd shot…

Backstage fun πŸ™‚

  1. You’ve captured the vibe to this festival perfectly on these images.Elliot’s a lucky lad last year he fondled Duffy and this he gets to meet Taylor Swift, not bad going for a 2 year old.
