Wednesday morning, the sun is shining and things are certainly looking bright all round. In the past 4 days we’ve had 4 confirmed wedding bookings, one confirmed corporate shoot and a potential family portrait session. It’s all very encouraging and means we can invest some of that money back into the business. And with only 2 months to go before our baby arrives it’s definitely nice to see cheques going into the bank on a regular basis!
My auntie works at Chester Zoo where they now do weddings and she’s recommended us to the events coordinators there. I love the idea of shooting a wedding with all those animals around so hopefully something might come of that. We’ll see…
Yesterday Evelyne and I visited a photo show in Coventry and met up with a couple of new suppliers we’re going to be using including GraphiStudio who make amazing photobooks. We can’t wait to show them to our clients! Also at the show was a free camera cleaning service which was great cos my main camera was desperate for a clean and to get it done for free in ten minutes was fantastic. They were also giving away free copies of the Professional Photographer magazine with my article in it. I’d wanted to get another copy as a keepsake. I got seven!
In the evening we met up with a family who are looking to do a photoshoot so they can give a framed set of images to their parents for their 40th wedding anniversary. It’s a lovely idea and one we hope we can help them with. They didn’t seem too scared off by our prices either which is always a bit of a worry.
After that we popped in to see my best mate, Tony, whose birthday it was. After a catch-up over a nice bourbon we headed home for an episode of Prison Break before bed.
Tonight I was planning on photographing London metallers Akercocke but the gig’s not on now so I’m trying to arrange a last-minute pass for Biffy Clyro who are playing over in Wolverhampton. It might be too late but I’ll keep fingers crossed. It feels like ages since I shot a gig but it’s only 9 days. I would have loved to have done Editors tomorrow but my trial session at Venture goes til 9pm so I’ll have to miss them. My friend’s brother has done all the photography for their new album campaign and it looks amazing. Very artistic and original.
I’ve added a few new images to the weddings section of Steve Gerrard Photography. Looks like I’ll be updating it even more regularly now. I might even have to add a separate weddings page.
Ok… I have plenty of work to be getting on with, and tomorrow and Friday I’m at Venture almost all day, so I better get on with it..
