Shustoke Farm Barns is one of my favourite wedding venues to shoot at in the UK and is a venue I’ve shot more than any other.
Every wedding I’ve ever shot there has had a really relaxed, party vibe and all the couples that book this venue for their wedding seem to have a similar wish for their wedding…. they want it to be a party where all their favourite people can gather in one place and have fun.
Shustoke is not a venue that makes guests feel intimidated by their surroundings, unlike some of the big country houses I’ve photographed weddings at. At Shustoke people instantly feel more relaxed and that always gives events at this wedding venue a more chilled vibe.
To quote the venue’s website, “A wedding party in a smart hotel can be impressive, but some people are looking for something more informal, more romantic, more rural, and where children can run around, where you can light fire pits on the terrace, where it doesn’t matter if a drink is spilled and where the party can move outside in good weather. Shustoke Farm Barns offers all of that!”
I also have to say that if I was getting married again…. Don’t worry Evelyne, I’m not!…. Shustoke would be high on my list of potential venues.
As a photographer, it’s also a fantastic place to shoot. There are multiple gorgeous locations where photographers can get a varied selection of images, especially for photos of the bride & groom. When the field next to the venue is full of corn it can make for some truly amazing wedding photos.
For group photos I tend to keep things in the courtyard rather than taking everybody too far. The light tends to always be great and it’s possible to get a great photo of all the guests together from the window on the second floor. The inside of the venue is great too, and they have a civil wedding licence so you can get married in the barn in the afternoon and follow on straight into your reception. Perfecto!
If you’re planning a wedding at Shustoke Farm Barns any time soon, I’d love to hear from you so please drop me an email…
Sorry, I can’t guarantee rainbows though! 🙂
