Bride & groom in canoe in Quebec

Sherbrooke and North Hatley may be some of Quebec’s most picturesque areas and they are also home to some of its best wedding venues, most notably the beautiful Manoir Hovey right on the banks of Lac Massawippi. Take a look at Audrey + Lucius’ amazing wedding at this historic venue.

The only problem couples have with Manoir Hovey is that it is somewhat limiting to those expecting a large number of guests, so they may have to look slightly further afield, away from North Hatley, but there are some fantastic wedding venues that will accommodate bigger weddings.

Le Cep d’Argent is a lovely winery venue located in Magog, Quebec, which specializes in providing a great setting amongst vineyards for celebrating weddings and other special occasions. If you want to experience champagne and sparkling wines with stunning views of Lake Magog, then Le Cep d’Argent is quite possibly the best choice for your wedding.

Facilities and capacity

The facilities found at Le Cep d’Argent are sprawled across 114-acres of land where more than 60,000 individual vines grow to make the wines that come out of this vineyard. The facilities include:

  • The Terrasse – Capacity for 100 guests
  • Exterior Deck – Capacity for 250 guests
  • Le Chevalier (Knight’s Hall) – Capacity for 120 guests
  • La Médiévale (Medieval Hall) – Capacity for 200 guests
  • The Corporate – Capacity for 120 guests

Then there’s the North Hatley Golf Club, just a stone’s throw from the North Hatley and Lake Massawippi, this venue is set with the most spectacular mountainous backdrop imaginable for your wedding photos. The grounds are meticulously maintained by a dedicated staff. In addition, couples and their guests will have full use of the clubhouse with a truly homely atmosphere. North Hatley Golf Club can seat a maximum of 90 persons.

A little further afield but still close to North Hatley is the stunning Grange Manson Barn offering a perfect setting for celebrating a more rustic wedding. Spacious and stunning, this location has an impressive event space and is great for truly gorgeous wedding photos. Grange Manson Barn was originally a dairy barn, which was lovingly renovated to transform as a venue for hire. The barn can accommodate 200 people. The barn features two balconies offering stunning views of mountains to the north and west.

Mont Orford Golf Club is a popular wedding reception venue half an hour from North Hatley. This venue’s New England style clubhouse will be the centre stage for a wedding celebration. The facilities found at this banquet hall venue include an elegant ballroom with high beamed ceilings and a large covered terrace which allows you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. These facilities have a capacity for up to 220 seated guests so great for larger weddings.

Lastly, there’s La Grange Rouge, a rustic countryside wedding venue north of Sherbrooke. This is a venue with a history that dates back to 1929. Years ago, it was a rare week where it wasn’t filled with smiling people dancing the night away on the same floor that’s there today. In turning it into a reception hall, the owners were careful not to lose the feel and personality that made it so special. Wherever they could, they reused pieces of the beautifully aged wood that’s been there since 1929. If you’re looking for a wedding reception venue with a warm rustic vibe, look no further.

About Steve

I’m a Brit living in Montreal with my wife, Evelyne and our three boys, Elliott, Isaac and Jonas! Evelyne and I met in the Alps in 2003 when Evelyne thought she was a cool snowboarder and I thought I was a superstar DJ. We got married in 2007 in Cornwall, England and moved to Canada in 2014.

I photographed my first wedding in 2006 and have now shot almost 500 weddings, mostly in Canada & the UK, but I absolutely love travelling anywhere in the world. I enjoyed it when I started but love my job now more than ever.
