A month in Montreal…

It’s already one month since I officially moved to Canada and I can happily report it’s been amazing so far. A few hours in the airport getting paperwork checked, approved and stamped and I got to see Evelyne and the boys for the first time since August. The kids had made little signs for my arrival. Cuteness overload!

Since then it’s been a case of enjoying being back with the family as well as putting things in place for our new life in Canada. I have a social security number, health card, new phone contract (and number. Let me know if you need that), have started getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road and have started promoting the business to a new audience. My (long) winter will be spent working on my SEO ready for next year.

Having said that, I’m gonna be back in the UK all the time. I’ve already been back once for a wedding and will be there again next week, and twice more after that before the year’s out. Next year I have around 20 weddings in the UK so will be there A LOT! We’re still booking weddings in the UK and other countries, which is great, but we need to start booking weddings in Montreal now too.

At the moment we are all staying with Evelyne’s parents until our house in the UK is sold. I can’t wait to have our own place over here. I think we’ll start looking after Christmas.

As well as all that stuff, we’ve been out into the Canadian countryside, staying in a chalet, have been apple picking, trick or treating and walking alongside lakes. Evelyne surprised me with an overnight stay at a spa (much needed) and I’ve already been to a few gigs, some of which I’ve photographed for the Montreal Rocks site. We’ve spent time with Canadian family and friends and made some brand new friends too. And Evelyne got a new job…. at Chanel!

It’s not all easy. I need to re-learn French for starters. Luckily French lessons are free in Quebec. I don’t have my own car here yet so often can’t get around too easily. And tea definitely tastes better in England! 🙂

But I’m loving this new chapter in our lives and am totally up for the challenge of making things happen here. Montreal is such a cool city. Come and visit us soon…

We live in Chateauguay at the moment Valerie. I saw the workshop. Looks fun but I have a wedding in the UK that week.

  1. Well, it all looks amazing from this side! Loving the Autumn colours! Don’t forget there are direct flights from Canada to Turks & Caicos. It would be great to see you guys again. It has been too long since FIND Ibiza!

If we can escape the winter for a few days we’ll be there before you can say “cocktails on the beach” Chanelle!

  2. It was great meeting you and the family last weekend at Elegant Wedding. Once the word is out and people start to see your amazing work, I’m sure you’ll be booking tons of weddings in Montreal. In the meantime, glad to see you are settling into your new home and enjoying the sights 🙂

  3. Sounds like you’ve got quite the busy schedule already.

Who knew all of those years ago when I met you in your previous career that you’d marry a Canadian girl and take up residence in my homeland.

Any plans on coming to the Toronto area at all? It would be lovely to see you – especially since now that’s a just a little more possible!
