Anna & Mike’s wedding at Le Château Taillefer Lafon came to me through my friend Rachel at An English Rose. She thought I might be a suitable photographer for them as they were looking for something different and didn’t want anything at all traditional.
Then when Mike checked out some of my Spotify playlists and noticed some of his favourite bands listed, he was sold!
It turns out we have a mutual love for Pearl Jam too. My favourite band. So when Mike let me know he was secretly planning to perform an Eddie Vedder song for Anna at the wedding I knew this was a day I was gonna love. And I wasn’t wrong!
On the morning of the wedding, I met up with the girls at the Omni Hotel where they were all getting ready and then we headed to Le Château Taillefer Lafon. I’d never been to this venue before but it’s a gorgeous building in Laval and the weather on the day allowed for a beautiful outdoor ceremony before plenty of dancing, good food, great speeches and that song from Mike.
Add to that a first dance that began as a slow dance before suddenly morphing into an energy-packed freakout by the couple. So cool!
I’d actually never heard of Chateau Taillefer Lafon before this wedding, which is surprising as it’s such a stunning place for a wedding. The building itself is the first vineyard in Quebec authorized to use the appellation “Château”, traditionally reserved for distinctive European vineyards. The vineyard makes for a beautiful location for wedding photos and the gardens around the main building are full of colour in the summer.
I want to thank Rachel for recommending me for this one, but most of all to Anna & Mike for trusting me to cover such a great, fun wedding for them.
I’d love to shoot at this venue again so if you are getting married at Le Château Taillefer Lafon please get in touch via my Contact page.
