Thank you so much!!!!!! Everyone is gushing over the photos!
Canvas is an uber-cool reception loft in the Lachine area of Montreal and easily one of the most unique venues around Montreal for a wedding, Jenn & Hayley are not the kind of couple to do things by the book and their wedding had their creative personalities stamped all over it. Exactly how I like it.
Before we even arrived at Canvas, Jenn & Hayley had arranged to meet for a first look at a local park, right on the waterfront, followed by a game of croquet with their closest friends and family. Like I say, this is not your normal wedding. It was approaching 40 degrees in the midday sunshine so most people were trying to stay in the shade but we still managed to get some cool photos before jumping into an air-conditioned car and onto Canvas for the ceremony.
Canvas has been hosting Montreal weddings for 12 years now but this was my first time at the venue. Newly renovated, Canvas has that old world charm and modern comfort and is housed inside a building built in 1929. Around the area, there is some very cool street art, some with a photography theme, so I was in my element.
The girls’ brothers hosted the ceremony, making it feel more intimate but also a lot of fun. There were a few brilliant speeches and plenty of great food. The venue seems to take their cuisine very seriously and it shows.
The wedding day ended with a packed dancefloor thanks to DJ Shane Oliveira and we still had time to do some light painting on the sidestreet close to Canvas. That’s the first light painting shot I’ve done at a Montreal wedding I think.
Huge thanks and big love to Jenn & Hayley for having me along to document such a fantastic day for them. Loved every second of it.
If you’re planning a wedding at Canvas I’d love to hear from you so please drop me an email via the Contact page.
