Founded in 1941, the Constantin Sugar Shack has built a reputation for quality, service and a great atmosphere thanks to the personal attention of the Constantin Family. Whatever the season weddings at Constantin Sugar Shack always have a relaxed, fun vibe to them, and Maggie & Rod’s wedding was no different.

This was a day full of laughter as you’ll see from the slideshow and photos above. I began the day nearby at the Imperial Hotel & Suites in Saint-Eustache where the girls and boys were getting ready in separate rooms. Then it was over to the Cabane à sucre Constantin for the ceremony in the small but beautiful chapel. There was a funny moment when the couple realised that they hadn’t removed Maggie’s veil from in front of her face. The officiant was a guy I’d worked with before at Kelly & Juan’s wedding at Chateau Ramezay. He’s a lovely guy and makes ceremonies feel more informal and fun which I definitely approve of.

After the wedding ceremony was over we shot family photos outside the chapel before heading into the main building for cocktails and a little magic. The magician also happened to be the DJ and MC for the night. Talk about multi-tasking!

One thing I really love about the Constantin Sugar Shack is how many great locations it has for photos around the grounds. If you’re getting married at this wedding venue you’ll be spoilt for choice of where to take your wedding photos and I loved escaping with Maggie & Rod and their bridal party to take photos using the buildings and the woods behind the venue. Maggie & Rod were great in front of the camera and I love their portraits. A few nice romantic photos but also plenty where they just look super-happy!

Later in the day, there was great food and plenty of entertainment with hilarious games and some fancy dress musical gameplay.

This was definitely a fun wedding and the couple could not have been more welcoming. Congrats to Maggie & Rod on the marriage and a big thanks for having me along for the wedding photography.

I’m a Brit living in Montreal with my wife, Evelyne and our three boys! Evelyne and I met in the Alps in 2003 when Evelyne thought she was a cool snowboarder and I thought I was a superstar DJ. We got married in 2007 in Cornwall, England and moved to Canada in 2014.

I photographed my first wedding in 2006 and have now shot almost 500 weddings, mostly in Canada & the UK, but I absolutely love travelling anywhere in the world. I enjoyed it when I started but love my job now more than ever.
